Matjaž Celarc, born in 1979, is a priest of the Archdiocese of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Assistant at the Chair of Bible and Judaism of the Theological Faculty in Ljubljana since 2017. He studied theology in the Slovenian capital (1998-2000) and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2000-2003), where he completed a Master’s Degree in dogmatic theology (2004-2006). After two years as Chaplain in the Parish of Grosuplje (2006-2008), he held a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies (2008-2012) at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. In 2016, he completed a PhD in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Besides delivering university lectures, Matjaž Celarc is Prefect of the Archdiocesan Major Seminary in Ljubljana and spiritual assistant of St. George’s Parish
in Grosuplje (where he is also engaged in various fundraising activities) and in the Parishes of Zgornji Tuhinj, Špitalič and Motnik.
