Dhammananda (Chatsumarn Kabilsingh), spent 30 years teaching at Mc-Master University, in Canada and Thammasat University, in Thailand. She was one of 1000 women who were nominated for Nobel Peace Award in 2005, and also nominated for Tallberg award in 2018. During her career, she has published and translated more than 100 books. For 30 years, she was the editor of the Newsletter of Buddhist Women’s Activities and co-founded Sakyadhita. She became the first Thai Theravada bhikkhuni in 2003 and received the appointment as the first Pavattini (bhikkhuni teacher) in Thailand (2015). Today, she has a monastery and a Center for International Monastic Training for women in Thailand.
