Felix Anthony Machado is Archbishop of Vasai, India. He pursued ecclesiastical studies in the Archdiocesan Seminary of Bombay, followed by studies in theology in the Catholic Faculty of Lyons, France, and completed a Ph.D. at Fordham University in Theology. He then taught Doctrinal Theology and Indian Studies at the Bombay Archdiocesan Seminary.
He worked in the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue for 15 years, and returned to India as Bishop in 2008. He served as Chairman for Interreligious Dialogue for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) from 2009 to 2018, and as Chairman for Ecumenism (2010-2019). From 2012-2019, he was Chairman for the Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences while contemporaneously serving as Chairperson of the Western Region Bishops’ Council (2015-2019). He is presently Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India.
